Tar Wars
Grant Award: $5,000
Tar Wars is a program designed to educate students about being tobacco-free by providing them with the tools to make positive decisions regarding their health. Following presentations made by volunteer physicians to students at their local elementary schools, the Virginia Academy of Family Physicians will host, in partnership with the MSV Foundation, a poster contest that encourages children to illustrate the need to stay smoke-free. The winner of the state-level contest will then be eligible to go to Washington D.C. to compete on the national level.
